To Support the Institute
Donor Opportunities
Through the generosity of founding donors Bill and Claudia Coleman, the Coleman Institute for Cognitive Disabilities was established in 2001. Their continuing support and the support of others allow the Institute to provide research grants to CU faculty and their research partners around the world, to support graduate and undergraduate students, to host and sponsor conferences, and to provide public advocacy to improve the lives of people with cognitive disabilities. Examples of the Institute’s impact are found throughout this web site.
Private gifts to advance the mission of the Coleman Institute may be deployed in a variety of ways, including providing support to:
- Faculty in the form of endowed or term chairs and professorships, teaching fellowships, and visiting scholars. Support may be used for research in computer science, geropsychology, behavioral psychology, assistive technology, speech/language/hearing, neuroscience, or in one of many other disciplines.
- Students, undergraduate and graduate, for fellowships, assistantships, stipends, and scholarships for postdoctoral appointments. Support could include funds for salary, tuition, research expenditures, travel to present at professional conferences, and other related expenses.
- Public advocacy and conferences, including sponsoring speakers at Coleman Institute-hosted conferences, and providing co-sponsorships of relevant partner conferences. Support for the collection and dissemination of information related to cognitive disability and technology might include the literature database available elsewhere on this web site.
- Specific grant recipients of the Institute, by identifying the donor's interests.
Of course, all gifts are welcome and may be used for unrestricted support of the Institute's mission-based activities.
